Autism Awareness Project

The Autism Awareness Project helps to spread awareness to your community.

ASDF has distributed nearly 5 million autism awareness bookmarks to new parents in hospitals in all fifty states.

These bookmarks help to identify children at risk for an autism spectrum disorder and assist in empowering families to get an early diagnosis followed by intervention as soon as possible. The bookmarks include autism early detection information in both English and Spanish.

It will be many years before we identify all the causes of autism and we may never be able to reverse the condition; we can, however, work to identify autism as early as possible so we can begin effective intervention so those affected can develop the skills necessary to lead full and productive lives.

We at ASDF know that acting early can make a real difference—the sooner autism is detected, the sooner you can figure out how to best support your child and their specific needs. That is why we created the Early Detection Kit to help better identify children who may be autistic. Our hope is that by detecting and diagnosing these disorders early on, we can more quickly initiate intervention, prevent symptoms from being exacerbated, and ensure that children develop ways to manage and accommodate their unique symptoms as they go through life.
